The Weed Action Native Habitat Restoration Trust is a community whose goal is to stop the spread of invasive weeds. Day-by-day, these weeds are degrading, replacing and spreading into the unique natural environment that we all value. We know that to be really successful, this has to be driven by the people that live and love it here.
Our weed action group aim is to make it easy for every resident to join in the fight against weeds:
- We want every resident to have “Weed Vision” so they can recognise the growing invasive weed threats the Heads is facing.
- We provide the advice, and the tools, equipment and herbicide so that people can take action! Killing weeds can be easy if you know how and have the right stuff!
- We support landowners and community groups to access volunteers and funding to tackle the bigger problems on their properties and in their community reserves.
- We want to see control happening from the smallest backyard, to the slopes of Bream Head and Manaia.
Our peninsula geography and environmentally conscious community means we are already ahead of the game. Because of this, we CAN make a huge difference and successfully protect the beauty and ecological value of what we have on our doorstep. All it takes is awareness and action.
