The momentum of care and concern the Whangārei Heads community has for the natural environment was very evident last month.
Weed Action Native Habitat Restoration Trust was asked by several conservation partners and residents for advice and input into restoring native habitats. Whether in local reserves, wetlands, or public areas, we have welcomed the opportunity to provide our expertise and advocate for important ecosystems.
One of Weed Actions’ roles is to support and encourage landowners towards action, so it was encouraging to have the opportunity to share more about how our native plant species and their ecosystems survive and thrive. It has been a timely reminder that our fixation on weeds is only in service to the greater goal of growing a flourishing native biodiversity – a habitat we can all live in.
